In short
- Zone Launcher does not require an account and does not sell your data.
- Your zones, apps, folders, shortcuts and settings are stored only on your device.
- The app collects anonymous crash reports and basic usage analytics through Google Firebase to keep the app stable.
- The optional AI Assistant works in two modes. With Zone AI, your messages and any screenshot you attach pass through our Cloudflare Worker, which forwards them to an AI provider and counts your usage against your plan. With your own API key, they go directly to the provider you pick and never touch our servers.
- Zone AI is a subscription with a free tier, Plus and Max plans, billed through Google Play. We do not store your conversations.
- Sensitive permissions (accessibility, usage access, overlay, contacts) are used only to power launcher features on your device and are never uploaded.
1. Who we are
Zone Launcher is an Android edge-swipe launcher developed and published by Bialy Apps ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information the app accesses, how it is used, and the choices you have. By using Zone Launcher you agree to the practices described here.
2. Data we collect
2.1 Data that stays on your device
Everything you configure in Zone Launcher is stored locally in the app's private storage and its local database:
- Your zones, triggers, folders, categories, and the apps, shortcuts and widgets you place in them.
- Appearance settings such as colors, icon packs, grid layout, ring and vibration preferences.
- The list of apps you have blacklisted, and any wallpaper snapshot you choose for a zone background.
- AI Assistant settings: whether you use Zone AI or your own key, your chosen provider and model, and any API key you enter, which is encrypted with the Android Keystore.
We have no server that receives this information, and we cannot read it.
2.2 Data collected automatically
The app includes Google Firebase Crashlytics and Firebase Analytics. These services collect:
- Crash reports: stack traces, the app version, the Android version, device model, and the state of the app when a crash or a caught error occurred.
- Usage analytics: anonymous, aggregated events such as app opens, session length, and a pseudonymous app-instance identifier generated by Firebase.
This data does not include your name, email address, contacts, or the contents of your zones. We use it only to find and fix bugs and to understand which features are used.
2.3 Purchases and subscriptions
Premium features and Zone AI plans are purchased through Google Play Billing. Google processes the payment and shares only a purchase token and entitlement status with the app so it can unlock the feature, restore purchases, and confirm your Zone AI plan. We never see your payment details.
2.4 Zone AI usage data
If you use Zone AI, our Cloudflare Worker keeps the minimum needed to run the service:
- A pseudonymous identifier for your app installation or subscription, used to link requests to your plan.
- Usage accounting: the number of requests, tokens or credits consumed, the model used, and timestamps, so we can enforce plan limits and free credits.
- Short-lived technical logs (request status, error codes, timing) used for reliability and abuse prevention.
We do not store the content of your messages, screenshots, or the AI's replies after the request has been forwarded to the provider and the reply returned to you.
3. Permissions and why we need them
Zone Launcher asks for several Android permissions. Each is used only for the feature listed below. Data accessed through these permissions is processed on your device and is not transmitted to us.
| Permission | Why Zone Launcher needs it |
|---|---|
| Accessibility Service | Detects which app is in the foreground so zones can be hidden in blacklisted apps, keeps the overlay service alive, powers action buttons such as Back, Home and Recents, and captures a screenshot only when you explicitly use the AI Screen Assistant. It does not read or record the content of your screen for any other purpose. |
| Display over other apps | Draws the edge-swipe trigger and zone overlay above other apps. |
| Usage access | Identifies the most recently used app for the "current app" actions and context menu. |
| Query all packages | Lists installed apps, including dual and work-profile apps, so you can add them to zones. |
| Contacts and Phone | Lets you add a contact as a shortcut and place a call from a zone. Contacts are only read when you pick one; they are never uploaded. |
| Photos, media and wallpaper | Lets you choose custom backgrounds, icons, and use your current wallpaper behind zones. |
| Camera and flashlight | Powers the flashlight toggle action. |
| Bluetooth and Wi-Fi state | Powers the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi toggle actions. |
| Foreground service, boot, battery optimization | Keeps the launcher overlay running and restores it after a reboot. |
| Internet | Used only for crash reports and analytics, Google Play Billing, the optional AI Assistant, and downloading the optional wallpaper catalog. |
| Vibrate | Haptic feedback when you interact with zones. |
4. AI Assistant
The AI Assistant is optional and off until you set it up. It can run in one of two modes, and you choose which.
What is sent in both modes: the messages you type in the chat, the conversation history for the current session, and, if you use the AI Screen Assistant, a downscaled JPEG screenshot of your current screen. Before the first screenshot is sent, the app shows a dialog asking for your permission and naming where it goes. You can decline.
4.1 Zone AI (subscription)
- How it works: your request is sent from the app to Zone AI, a service we run on Cloudflare Workers. Zone AI checks your plan, forwards the request to an AI provider using our own provider account, streams the reply back to you, and records the usage against your plan.
- Plans: a free tier with a limited number of credits, plus paid Plus and Max plans with higher limits. Plans are billed through Google Play and can be cancelled there at any time.
- Providers: we route Zone AI requests to one or more of the providers listed in section 5. The provider that handles a given request processes it under that provider's API terms, which prohibit using API data to train their models.
- What we keep: only the usage and technical records described in section 2.4. Conversation content is processed in memory and not stored by Zone AI.
- No API key needed: you never enter a provider key in this mode.
4.2 Your own API key
- How it works: you pick one of the supported providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, or OpenRouter) and enter your own API key.
- Where it goes: directly from your device to that provider. Zone AI is not involved and we never receive your prompts, screenshots, or responses.
- Your API key: stored only on your device, encrypted with the Android Keystore. It is sent to the provider you chose with each request and nowhere else.
- Provider policies: once data reaches a provider, it is handled under that provider's own privacy policy and terms. Please review them before use.
Screenshots are captured through the accessibility service only at the moment you trigger the AI Screen Assistant. Secure screens, such as banking apps and DRM-protected content, cannot be captured. Screenshot files are written to the app's private cache and are overwritten or removed as the cache is cleared.
5. Third-party services
The following third parties may receive data as described above. Each operates under its own privacy policy.
- Google Firebase Crashlytics and Analytics for crash reporting and usage analytics.
- Google Play Billing and Google Play In-App Review for purchases and the optional rating prompt.
- OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, and OpenRouter, when you use the AI Assistant, either through Zone AI or with your own key for that provider.
- Cloudflare, which runs the Zone AI service (Cloudflare Workers), hosts this page, and serves the optional wallpaper catalog. Any request to these services sends standard web request data, including your IP address, to Cloudflare's network.
6. Storage, backups and retention
- All app data lives on your device. Uninstalling Zone Launcher removes it.
- Android cloud backup of app data is disabled for Zone Launcher. Your settings are not automatically uploaded to Google Drive.
- You can export a manual backup file from Settings. That file is saved wherever you choose and is under your control. It contains your zones and settings but not your AI API key.
- Crash and analytics data is retained by Google Firebase according to its retention settings, typically 90 days for crash data and up to 14 months for analytics, after which it is deleted or aggregated.
- Zone AI usage records are kept for as long as needed to enforce plan limits and handle billing disputes, and technical logs are kept for a short period, after which they are deleted. Conversation content is not retained.
7. Sharing and selling
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We do not share data with advertisers, and the app contains no advertising SDKs. Data is shared with third parties only as described in this policy, or if required by law.
8. Your choices and rights
- Permissions: every sensitive permission can be revoked at any time in Android Settings. The related feature will stop working but the rest of the app will continue.
- AI Assistant: switch modes, remove your API key, or cancel your Zone AI plan in Google Play at any time to stop any data going to Zone AI or a provider.
- Analytics: you may opt out of Google's personalized analytics through your device's Google settings, and you can limit ad tracking at the system level.
- Deletion: uninstalling the app deletes all locally stored data. To request deletion of crash or analytics data associated with your app instance, contact us using the details below.
- Access and correction: if you believe we hold personal data about you, you may ask what it is and request that it be corrected or deleted.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or another region with data-protection laws, you have the rights those laws provide, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. Our legal basis for the processing described here is our legitimate interest in keeping the app stable and functional, the performance of our contract with you where you subscribe to Zone AI, and your consent where you enable optional features such as the AI Assistant.
9. Children
Zone Launcher is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us so we can delete it.
10. Security
Your data is kept in the app's private storage, which other apps cannot read. API keys are encrypted with keys held in the Android Keystore. Network requests use HTTPS. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app gains features or as laws change. The effective date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be highlighted in the app's changelog or in the app itself.
